Joseph D. Sorbara, Q.C. (retired December, 2016)
Joseph Sorbara was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1970 and practiced with the law firm of Lorenzetti, Mariani & Wolfe for one year. In 1971 he joined Joseph M. Tanzola and founded the partnership of Tanzola & Sorbara.
Joseph attended the University of Toronto and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Arts Degree with a major in English. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws Degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1968. Joseph practiced in the areas of real estate development and corporate/commercial law.
Directorships previously held by Joseph include The Dominion Trust Company, Multilingual Television (Toronto) Ltd., the Toronto Symphony, Chair of the Board of Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology and Chair of Board of the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation. He was Chair of the Advisory Board of OMNI Television and a director of many private corporations involved in a variety of business activities. In addition to his business interests, Joseph was Chair of the Board of York University Development Corporation, a member of the Board of the Humber College Foundation, The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall and Chair of the St. Michael's College Fundraising Committee.
